What types of jobs are out there?

There are a lot of employment opportunities for interior designers in South Africa. These jobs are mostly concentrated in the larger cities, such as Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg.

You can find numerous job opportunities through doing a simple internet search, or by looking in selected trade publications. Most of the jobs on offer are for work within commercial design companies or architecture firms.

You will find that many of the available opportunities out there are for specific design positions: you can be required to work purely as a 2-D or 3-D drafter, or as a project manager or design assistant. You can also find work as an interior design technologist, concept creator or interior design sales representative. Each of these jobs will, however, offer a different interior design salary.
